The Hawaiian Islands are interesting little microcosms. Ranging from Tropical to Mountainous to complete desert. This photo was taken on the southeastern part of Maui which is almost completely covered in barren lava rock. A 30 minute drive in the opposite direction you'll be back in the jungle and probably getting rained on. If you look closely in the Distance you can see a raincloud hovering over the Uninhabited Island of Kahoolawe.
